About Us
History
The “No Girl Left Behind Initiative (NGLB)” formerly known as the Girlchampionhub was founded in “March 2024” with a clear mission: “to empower young girls through education, menstrual hygiene advocacy, and community support.” It was born out of a deep passion for ensuring that no girl is held back due to poverty, lack of access to education, or menstrual stigma.
- March 2024 – NGLB was founded (originally Girlchampionhub).
- To empower girls through education, menstrual hygiene, and community support.
- October 2024 – Partnered with Lysha Care Foundation to distribute 700+ sanitary pads to girls in need.
- November 2024 – Paid school fees for 10 girls, ensuring they stay in school.
- December 2024 – Launched food relief program, supporting over 60 families with food items.
- March 2025 – Provided food to over 200 Muslims in Abuja as part of Ramadan relief efforts.
The journey began with a simple yet powerful act—“providing 300 girls in Gwagwa with free sanitary pads” on March 14, 2024. This first project revealed the harsh reality many young girls face: missing school due to period poverty. Recognizing the urgency, NGLB quickly expanded its efforts, reaching another “300 girls in Ushafa”that same month.
By “October 2024”, NGLB had grown beyond individual efforts and formed partnerships, collaborating with “Lysha Care Foundation”to distribute “over 700 sanitary pads”to girls in need. The initiative’s impact extended beyond menstrual health when, in “November 2024”,it “paid school fees for 10 girls” and supported an additional “200 girls in Kuje” with hygiene essentials.
Understanding that empowerment goes beyond education and menstrual health, NGLB launched a “food relief project in December 2024”, distributing food items to “over 60 families” facing hardship.
No Girl Left Behind Initiative was born from both “passion and pain.” Growing up, I saw how many girls “struggled with menstrual poverty, lacked access to education, and missed opportunities” simply because they couldn’t afford basic necessities. But beyond that, I also witnessed the devastating effects of “poor menstrual hygiene and lack of health awareness.”
I lost a dear friend to ovarian cancer- a disease she might have survived if she had access to proper health education and early detection. I also have a “sister who has battled ovarian cancer,” and it made me realize how critical it is for young girls to understand their bodies, practice safe menstrual hygiene, and seek medical attention when necessary.
I started “No Girl Left Behind Initiative”to ensure that:
- “No girl misses school because of period poverty.”
- “No girl is left in the dark about her reproductive health.”
- “More girls get the support, education, and opportunities they deserve.”
- “We create awareness on menstrual hygiene, mental health, and ovarian cancer prevention.”
